100% Merlot

Winemakers Note:

The wine has a dark, plum red colour. Concentrated blackcurrant aromas define the nose while herbal and nutty aromas add further complex nuances. The palate is rich and juicy, containing hints of cocoa. The aftertaste is long and the tannins already very textured and smooth.

Wine of Origin:

Coastal Region, South Africa.

Vinification:

The Merlot was sourced from the Franschhoek (60%) and Stellenbosch (40%) Regions.
The vines produce fully ripe grapes with great fruit expression. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted at the winery to exclude any green or rotten berries. Fermentation on the skins and regular pump-overs produce good colour extraction with elegant tannins. The resulting wine is matured for 21 months in 2nd fill French oak barrels.

Think roast duck, turkey, and lean cuts of beef with roasted vegetables.
